Different Craps Variations

When you walk into a casino, you'll find a huge bunch of games you can choose from. One of the really popular (and perhaps the noisiest) games in a casino is craps. It won't be uncommon if you find a rowdy bunch of people crowding around a craps table having a great time.

First off among the different craps varieties is what is known as Bastard Craps. This craps variation can be found in some casinos. Bastard Craps (or is sometimes called Crapless Craps) is playable as a private game and is simplified version of the standard craps game.

In this variation of craps, the point numbers are two, three, eleven, and twelve during the come out roll. A come out roll of seven therefore wins. Any other result in the come out roll results in a point. The shooter wins if he makes it again before getting a seven.

Being shooter in this craps variation is quite risky since you'll get a higher house edge (i.e. about four times as much compared to the original variation). The original craps version has the house edge at 5.38%.

Our next craps variation is Simplified Craps. In this variation, a player who gets a two, three, ten, eleven, and twelve wins, and that player loses on a roll within the range of five to nine. This craps variation has the overall house edge pegged at 2.8%

The next craps variation is Money Craps. This game is where the big money is played. This game plays almost exactly the same way as Private Craps. One distinction we will find for this game is that there are certain bets that can be made against the book.

The book is the guy that takes the bets. This person is also the one who holds the vig or vigorish. This game is usually illegal and players usually gather on locations agreed upon. Since this craps game is mostly illegal, you can expect that the limits often exceed the ones at a casino. You should also expect that the bets made at this game would be in cash.

Private Craps is a variation, which is played by private individuals. This game will not have a house or banker but players make their bets against each other.
